Book Review: Ayoade on Ayoade by Richard Ayoade

Ayoade on Ayoade

Ayoade on Ayoade is the most bizarre biography I have read about anyone, having said that, it is very much in-keeping with Richard Ayoade’s persona to the millions of fans that he has across the globe.  In this book he is trying to interview himself and it does have hilarious results.  You do have to try and not read it like you would any other biography, this doesn’t read like a typical interview pose, it doesn’t even read like a typical biography either.

Although it is meant to be some kind of biography, it really doesn’t come across like one, instead it seems to read more like a step-by-step guide to dealing with famous people and how not to act towards people when filming.  I say that and yet I am also going to say that it’s the most surreal read I have come across, which probably says little since I have read Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett books.

If you are wanting a read and wish to learn something about Richard Ayoade, you aren’t really going to find much here, however if you are able to delve in deeper into his words you might get a glimmer of the man behind the words and comedic jokes that are layered up in this book.

This would be a good read for old and new fans who want to read something of Ayoade and see if his genius can actually translate across to the written word.

If this spoof of a biography doesn’t tickle your fancy, there are many other famous biography’s out there to be read, this one is just a lot less serious than the other’s.
